Scott has been a state licensed Physical Therapist (PT) in Missouri since 1987.
He graduated with honors in Physical Therapy from the University of
Missouri-Columbia School of Health Professions. During his career, Scott has
treated thousands of patients from all walks of life. He frequently works with
patients that have back pain and orthopedic joint problems. Scott also sees
athletes, active children and seniors. In addition, he works with industrial
clients and children with developmental delays. Orthopedic concerns, including
orthotic fitting, continue to be something he does for Summit Strength as well.
In 1990 Scott earned a Certification in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT).
In 1996 Scott studied in Minnesota for several months and earned the Diploma
(Dip.) in MDT of the spine from the McKenzie Institute International. Scott has
been invited to make presentations about the spine and extremities to health
care professionals. This includes being an Adjunct Professor with the University
of Kansas School of Physical Therapy. Scott has participated in several research
studies for the treatment of the spine through The University of Texas-El Paso
and The State University of New York in Syracuse.
In 2001 Scott founded Summit Strength. Summit Strength has grown into a high
level local and regional Physical Therapy clinic and serves as a large Training
facility for students progressing in their physical therapy careers.
Scott has received his Certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist
(CSCS) and Personal Trainer (CPT) through the National Strength and Conditioning
Association. He is involved in helping his clients restore their maximum
function with strength, flexibility, speed and coordination for their sport, job
or hobby. Most professional and intercollegiate athletic teams have a Strength
and Conditioning Coach on staff to develop fitness programs for athletes that
are sport and position specific. Many successful sports programs will credit the
strength and conditioning strategy for prevention of injury and higher
performance.
Scott has been actively involved youth sports for over 15 years. He has lived in
Lee's Summit for over 20 years and is actively involved in his church. He enjoys
spending time with his wife Lori, daughter Kelsey and son Zachary.
